Every stand alone GPS and every software i am aware of has a dedicated hardware or software button "nearest airfield". While in the situation of needing the nearest airfield, i'm not quite sure if I remember the way to this function - not to speak of the inconvenience fo a distressed pilot to tap the correct buttons. At least the ipad mini and ipad offer enough screen estate to put a little button in.

So my suggestion: integrate a small "nrst"-button on the screen in flight mode (either auto detect ipad mini or make its existence configurable) which produces a menue ordered by distance. In the menue give airfield name, distance, bearing

AND

tower frequency.

That would be a perfect addition for me.

Or just long-press on the SkyDemon orb. We hide information like this in the user manual.

Thanks! The idea to use the logo as a panic button is fine, but in it's present form, this is kind of an easter egg. How about some graphical hint? Eg the direct-to symbol as an discrete overlay in the SD-button and some hint to the difference between tap (menue) and long press (nearest/direct). One way might be long and short bar like the morse code. Every pilot will understand the meaning. This spoils the beautiful graphic appearence of the logo for sure. Maybe using low-contrast overlay which does not hamper the appearence, but is visible if the user takes a longer look at the screen.

Sorry, we're happy with the way we do it at the moment. The function is easily accessible by first opening the menu and then choosing it. There are many quick shortcuts in the SkyDemon user interface, and to display graphical hints for them all would be disastrous for the simple appearance of the software. I believe all shortcuts are called out in the product documentation.
